Asbestos insulating board in airing cupboard?

Since I had an asbestos scare early in the year, I've now been worrying about asbestos in the house. I've read that asbestos insulating board was sometimes used in airing cupboard. Now this got me worried sick as I suffer from health anxiety. Where is the insulting board used in the airing cupboard, is it only in the door?

if you live in an ordinary domestic house, there is unlikely to be fluffy asbestos insulation as once used in factories and ships.

there is a faint chance that asbestos cement board might have been used as a fireproofer. It is light grey usually with one hard smooth side and one indented rough side. It is not considered harmful unless you smash it up and release fibres. Any dust you should mop up with a damp cloth or kitchen roll (not brush and not vac) and put, still moist, in a plastic bag for disposal.

My parent's have these boards in their airing cupboard and boiler cupboard. Their house was built late 50s/early 60's.

A while ago one of their neighbours looked into getting the boards removed but was told that they would pose more of a risk if you tried to shift them than if you left them where they were.

We had a survey done, think it was a homebuyer report and it says inspection of the house revealed no asbestos materials. So can I be sure that there is none in the airing cupboard?

you can pay an asbestos removal company to come and snout round if you want.

there is a faint chance your council will give more than standard text advice.

2tired2bewitty, how can your parents tell they are asbestos? Because they looks similar to normal plasterboard, it's difficult to tell?

Pink first get the insulating board analysed, I suspect that it will contain some kind of asbestos, as it was used as a fire break. If it contains Amosite, brown asbestos you would have to get a asbestos licenced company in remove it under enclosed conditions. If it is good condition, not broken leave it and keep an eye on so it doesn't deteriorate.

It looks like those boards you put bunsen burners on in chemistry at school. I don't know whether it came up in a survey (they've lived there since i was a baby), someone told them (like the neighbours) or whether they just worked it out.

If your survey didn't point it out it's probably not asbestos. Mum's is screwed to the inside of the airing cupboard door so hard to miss. When was your house built?
