Independant legal advice on mortgage deed

On mortgage deed it says 'We strongly recommend you take independent legal advice on the effect of this deed.'

I dont understand what kind of independent legal advice they recommend me to take. Does that mean for example I need to go to the solicitors office and spend an hour to hear what they say? Or is it just to ask my solicitor the contents that I dont understand?

You must make sure you fully understand the legal implications of taking out a mortgage, what happens upon non-payment, continued non-payment, rates, overpayments, etc. The mortgage offer is set out fairly straightforward these days. Have a read through it and highlight any bits you're unsure of. Have a chat to your solicitor. Don't feel you are wasting their time because you are not.

I guess you need to be fully explained regarding the mortgage terms and conditions by an independent solicitor. I have recently done it when my Company purchased a property and I was the Director Guarantor. The solicitor who helped me with the ILA was Joseph Thaliyan Solicitors in London.
