CCTV drain inspection needed

Wow, what an exciting title Wink I have posted on another thread for stressed out movers but thought maybe someone who had actually been through it might have an answer

Basically we had a survey done on "our" house and it has a serious drain blockage. The mortgage co won't give us a mortgage unless we have a CCTV drain report done. The EA and our sol says the vendor should /will have to pay for it.
Has anyone needed to get this done on a prospective/owned property. What was the outcome? How much did it cost?
Tia

We had something similar in our survey report on the property we are selling. Called Thames Water as it was a shared drain (totally against info provided by cretinous surveyor). They came out in 3 hours and cleared it at no charge. Very pleased and relieved. Hopefully you can do something similar?

Have used Dyno Rod on a different house and they were excellent and not expensive. Would recommend.

Try your water co firm though even just for advice. I have received atrocious advice from surveyors, alas, across three property transactions.

The surveyor is on holiday until tues I am going to phone to speak with her then and ask which actual drain it was. The house we are looking to buy has been empty for a while so I think maybe because there isn't a regular flow of water going thru the system it's a bit silted up. Sure there is a more technical name for it.

How old is the property?

It's always a good idea to have a drain survey done, we do for all our clients before they buy,

insurance companies, often now have a clause that for the first three to six months your drains are not covered,

you are only responsible for the drain until it joins the main,

If you do have to have them replaced, make sure you have lots of extra inspection chambers(it all clip together easy to fit stuff now, added so in the future it is all really to access, the main cost is the labour.

and get a copy of any footage, not just the report.

It's 1952 built. No big trees in the front garden. We(hopefully) wont be getting the report/ investigation done or paid for. It should come out of the vendors pocket, the mortgage co said it has to be in our name tho.
Also , I suppose depending on the findings of the CCTV report that will influence our mortgage co-ie how £££ it will cost to rectify.
Thanks for the posts.
