Hi... I'm more of a lurker on the other boards and this is my first post within this topic but hoping someone can advise please... Yesterday I discovered a crack in the shower tray - it's approx 6inch long but can't tell if its cracked all the way through or just the enamel surface iykwim? Do we have to replace the whole tray or is there some magic glue or something that will do the job? Thanks Smile

If it's resin you can repair it, if it's a thin acrylic one you will have to replace it.

How can I tell which it is? < insert "useless at DIY" icon >

The resin one is very solid, almost like stone, an acrylic one will feel miles flimsier. I'd try to tap them to get some idea - the acrylic one will sound like knocking a plastic bath panel. An acrylic one will also probably give a little when you stand on it. Perhaps if you look down the waste you might be able to gauge what material the tray is made from. Tbh, most modern ones are resin.

If you're not sure, Replace. if you can get under it (eg side panel you can unscrew and are considering repair, check VERY carefully in the floor/ceiling below incase there is insidious leakage. We inherited a cracked shower seal that had done £500 worth of damage to the surrounding floor/skirting by the time it was picked up. A new tray is only a couple of hundred pounds if you get it direct from a plumbers merchant.
