Built-In Ovens dilemma

So, currently designing our new kitchen and thinking about the oven setup. Originally I had discussed with the planner a built-in single oven and a built-in combi oven in adjacent tall units (because it would be quite tidy looking), however...

the initial quote I have from my kitchen designer is over £2K for a single oven, combi and warming drawer (Neff) which sounds a bit extortionate. I'd like to have a choice of manufacturers anyway (clutching my Which Best Buy lists!) And thinking about what I will actually use, in terms of function I'd rather go for a double oven and a built-in microwave.

However this messes up my nice tidy design. Confused. The plan currently is to have a row of 4 tall units along one wall. The two outer units would be tall larder-type units (500mm) and the inner two (600mm) would house the ovens.

Will it look plain weird if I have a double oven on one side and a microwave on the other?
If I stick with single oven/combi oven setup do I need to also get a warming drawer to make it look symmetrical? And go for the same manufacturer for all 3 to keep it consistent?

Any other ideas to make the design elegant as well as practical?

Thanks in advance

We have a neff single oven and a neff combination micro.
We have the oven built in a unit with the oven at waist height and the micro at eye even.

We hardly use both ovens together apart from Xmas so I'm glad we didn't go for a double oven.

Ours are in a wall with larder unit, American drudge freezer, larder unit and then oven and micro unit.

Hth.

( All approx std heights in brackets )

... you could have a single oven(600) in one and a multi (450) and warming drawer (150) in the other to look neat - as first drawing
... Alternatively have a std single (600) and a single multifunction (600)
... But if you want a separate grill and symmetry I would go for a single Demi oven (450) with multi demi micro (450) and then a double (880) in the other one that's as close as you will get I think !
You can get micros a little smaller and then have them separated by a filler so the heights from the bottom of the double oven to the top match the bottom of the Demi oven to the top of the smaller micro !
For aesthetics it's generally a good idea to have them all from the same manufacturer and range.
Hope that helps !

Or four Demi oven - ie one steam one micro and two multifunctional !

Thanks that's very helpful! I have been researching all of the options today and I think I've come full circle to the Std Single and combi/warming drawer setup. I'll probably source them myself as I can apparently get them a lot cheaper on-line.

The only thing is that I have now my heart set on a John Lewis oven (JLBIOS614) which has lovely large capacity plus very good reviews (top of Which? best buy table) but I'm reluctant to match with their combi oven which gets very poor reviews. I'd in fact prefer to match it with the Neff combi micro and warming drawer, which means violating the 'same manufacturer/range' rule.

Aaaaghhhhh

if you want different manufactures then check to see things like lights and clocks as blue lights and red lights on clocks etc might drive you potty of an evening ! also similarity of colour finish and handles ... if at all possible try and see both and take photos if they aren't in the same place ! good luck !! :-)

You need to check the lights/clocks even if they're from the same manufacturer.

My parents have a neff oven alongside a neff combination oven/microwave and one has a green clock and the other a red clock

the appliances in my kitchen are Neff (see pic on profile) and were all graded stock from Southern Domestics in Woolston

I'm not sure if its the same one, but I'm pretty sure I looked into a John Lewis oven which was top of the Which? Best Buy tables for my kitchen. I had a Which? membership at the time and saw that most customer reviews on the oven actually complained bitterly about it and asked how it could have been a best buy (sorry, but I can't even remember what faults they complained about!). I decided to go with another oven after that but if you're buying it solely on the best buy rating, it may be worth researching a bit more.

Of course, if you've actually looked into it fully then please ignore me - I know what a pain it is to finally make a decision and be happy with it and then have someone throw a spanner in the works! After all, companies can't please all of their customers all of the time!
