Hi folks,
I've just exchanged contracts and am moving in 2 weeks...I need a good checklist of people I need to inform / things I need to sort out...anyone got one of these?? I don't need to do any packing as I'm heavily pregnant with toddler in tow so we'll be getting movers (who are booked) but it seems there are a lot of people I need to inform! Help! #babybrain!

the things to prioritise are:

house insurance: you should already have this as buildings for the new property, arrange to make it buildings/contents from completion day, and to cancel the insurance on your current house from that day
car insurance: must also switch to the new address on the day
broadband/phone: this needs notice and it is hard work if it isn't there, so arrange that now.
gas/electric/water suppliers: tell them you are moving and close off bills. For the new property, take on the current supplier and shop around when you have a chance.
post office redirect: takes care of everything else. I usually suggest 3 months, but as you are going to be busy :-) make it six months. Try to make a list of all the institutions that need to be told, plus your mates, and tick them off as the change is done.

do meter readings at both properties on the day.
once moved: car V5, driving licence (do it online, send off the old one when the new one arrives), council tax and everything else.

Make sure you empty the attic!
If you are doing the packing yourself then start now.

These are all great, thanks! I'm adding them to the spreadsheet!
No, not packing myself-only a couple of boxes of really sentimental stuff we wouldn't want to lose if anything happens during the move.
Do I need to call utilities in advance or do I call them on the day?
Thanks

I told the utility company in advance of the move, then phoned them later on with the final meter readings.
