Did it look okay, and would you mind telling me roughly how much this cost you? We painted the kitchen when we moved in about 4 years ago, but now it could really do with refreshing again before we sell.
We'd be happy to buy made to measure doors online and fit ourselves if we could find a recommended company, so if anyone has any suggestions that would be great :)

You may find it cheaper to get something at Ikea. They do some great kitchens at a low price.

Alternatively, you may find stuff on free cycle or gumtree.

Thanks Penguin I think ikea will work out about 2k, so pretty good for a new kitchen but as its short term I was wondering if I could do anything a bit cheaper and without the hassle of fitting and the extra cost of replacing appliances. Possibly it will work out that much anyway if the doors all have to be made to measure though so you might be right!

I replaced doors, door handles, worktops and sink in my first house and it really made a big difference and much improved appearance. I found loads of online companies and although my kitchen was small (approx 5 double cupboards and 7 drawers) it only cost £600. I did get someone to fit it which was an additional cost but not too much. I would definately do that again. You can order samples first as well so you can see the finished doors and worktops before you buy.

Any idea who you used monkey? Don't worry if not.

I'm about to do the same thing. The problem we have is that we don't know where the kitchen cupboards come from and have been told that they all vary a little.

We had our doors professionally painted in Crown paint in Farrow and Ball Old White as a colour, put in new walnut coloured melamine worktops from Magnet that is so realistic looking people often think it's wood, and new stainless steel sinks and swan necked taps also from Magnet. We got some beech round knobs from SDS and I oiled them with olive oil to age them a bit. It costs £2k instead of the £20k a new kitchen would have involved, and it looks like something out a kitchen catalogue!

Can I ask how much it cost you to get your kitchen cupboards painted? I'm also in a similar position, our kitchen is wooden and looks rather dated, will look amazing white however I begrudge spending so much as we are planning on moving soon.

I had a new granite look worktop on three sides, a new stainless steel sink and draining board and swan neck mixer taps, new corner base cupboard, new drawer pack and new wall cupboard. The new pieces were a good match to the original pieces. the original base cupboard which blocked in the corner was moved to the end of the run and the worktops extended by six inches at each end. It is amazing what a difference it makes. A local builders suppliers who employ a kitchen fitter did it for £1,400

In our old house I had someone from a kitchen company (can't remember the name, maybe Cupboard Love?) quote for replacing thirteen cupboard doors and three drawer fronts, with new hinges and handles I was quoted £1500 Shock

I went to B&Q with the measurements and priced it up myself, with new hinges and door handles it came to £280.00 (and that included replacing the drawer unit as the style I chose didn't have drawer fronts to fit the existing unit- it was quite easy to unscrew and crowbar out the drawer unit and wiggle the new one in without damaging the unit on either side)

It took me a weekend to do myself Grin

About £1000 but that was something like 22 doors and 8 drawer fronts. I think the secret is getting it done professionally, tbh.

We bought doors and worktop, but it was years ago and I can't remember how much it cost. Looks fab.
