bedrooms with three outside walls

The house we are looking to buy has a couple of bedrooms with 3 outside walls - I'm guessing they might be cold. The house dates from late 30s and we would put cavity wall insulation in. One of the rooms has windows on all sides but they are relatively small windows and double glazed. Anyone else experienced this?

MIL has one bedroom like this (also 1930s house). It is absolutely freezing at night! Think it only has 2 small radiators under windows iirc.

Double check there is a cavity wall. Some 1930's houses have double walls but without a cavity, in which case, three external walls can be a nightmare (lots of cold bridging etc)

funny you should say this, we are just internally insulating a bedroom with three outside walls, all stone. There is another with three outside cavity walls, insulated, and the room keeps the heat better. (Sounds like you are also buying an L-shaped house)

the room under works gets a fair bit of condensation on the walls. Hoping to improve this, or at least transfer it to the windows.

MrsJohnD - does your MIL have cavity wall insulation too? And I suppose it depends on the orientation as if it's a north/north easterly room then it will be even colder. Will also check there is a cavity too!

Our old house had main bedroom with 3 outside walls, and a velux as it was into the roof of a 2 storey house. It was always warm, but think that was as it was above the kitchen and the airing cupboard. This was in a house built 1895.
