She is suggesting that they make changes to the people's plans, moving doors, adding window etc.

These people must have planning permission as hey are building... So my question is...

How much can you change the design after planning permission is approved?

Oh I wondered that too

EastwickWitch · 14/09/2013 20:32

I understand that you can resubmit, but it costs.

Jacaqueen · 14/09/2013 21:39

This annoys me so much.

Every week these people who have gone to the trouble of getting an architect and applying for planning permission, make fundamental mistakes that Sarah has to rectify.

It is so contrived. Obviously the permission has been granted and the building regs all sorted out before the cameras start to roll.

Don't get me wrong i love watching it, but anyone who has ever done building work knows its a set up.

Usually very little can be changed that has an effect on the exterior. Occasionally very minor changes can be waved through by a nice planning officer but often you have to go back and resubmit, 8 weeks etc.

MummytoMog · 14/09/2013 22:08

You can tweak the interior quite a bit though. We're moving a door on our extension, but I don't think you can change the outside.

Thinkingofmyfabfour · 14/09/2013 22:14

Yes you can change interior and just amend building warrant at the end for small fee

Don't want to hi-jack the thread but, watching this programme tonight and just loved the loft conversion roof window at the house in ?Bristol, I think.
It looked like a velux window until she opened it then the top part opened straight out, and stayed put and the bottom half sort of magically converted into a glass balustrade so you could easily look over the rooftops while standing upright and not stooped over.
Does anyone know if these sort of windows have a name?

GrandPoohBah · 15/09/2013 01:17

Oh yeah, this is one of my personal peeves. Also when KirstynPhil are showing people around flats and blithely say 'but you'd want to remove/move this wall/bathroom/kitchen'. Well yes. You might WANT to. It really all rather depends on whether you can get permission from the freeholder though, doesn't it?!

PastaBeeandCheese · 15/09/2013 08:01

I agree grandpoohbear. Similarly when they say 'it's £20k under budget so you could afford the work' I always think 'but that's not £20k in cash you have, it's a smaller mortgage'. Not really the same thing.

wonkylegs · 15/09/2013 08:39

Wingedharpy they are made by Velux
here although Fakro also make them here
