What paint colour have you used on your boy's bedroom walls?

We're about to decorate my son's bedroom. We'll be getting new carpet, new bedding, new curtains/blinds so I am looking for a specific wall colour I can use as my starting point for the rest. The room is sunny and east facing, my DS is 6.

Alternatively any nice wallpaper designs?

Let him decide? We let ds1 choose his himself.

Not exactly what I would have chosen but he love it

stripeygreensocks · 09/09/2013 15:49

Loves it obviously

We've gone for a light green - Laura Ashley sage - which seems to go well with either neutrals/whites but also bright primary colours for our DS

DD2 has just chosen a duck egg blue that we teamed with primary striped curtains, a striped rug, dinosaur wall stickers and a green pterodactyl light shade. She also has bright bunting all around the top of the walls.

DD2 is 7 and doesn't like "girls" things.

One bright red wall

Little one has a character themed bedroom Blush all Toy Story but the walls are a turquoise blue and white, the older ones have their room done in lime green and white and they love it, keeps the room nice and bright and clean looking which isn't easy with three boys in the one room! Their choice not mine!

Hi Op,
my 12 yo chose Dulux Lost Lake for one wall, the rest is white. This blue is the most striking I have ever seen, painted on fresh plaster, it looks stunning. I want it for my bedroom now but we have tons of eau de nil for that. Sadly.

Just done 2 boys' rooms. For a start we put in tongue and groove and built in desks and shelves in an alcove of each room as the walls were a bit wonky and needed re plastering. Wimborne White and Dusted Moss 3 Dulux and grey carpet. Grey and white stripey duvet. Lots of artwork and his colourful bits and bobs for DS2. He has an industrial style light from Sainsburys and sounds odd but orange, red and yellow accents... A foxy cushion and a cloud cushion from Ferm living, red angle poisedesk lamp from Wilko. Looks fresh and calm but still bright.

DS1 has Wimborne White on 3 walls, Dulux Flint which is Dark grey on another And a lime green door. Sounds hideous but looks so good. Lots of grey and white bedding and cool artwork. A grey star throw from Tk maxx. Lime green stool from Dunelm Mill and white malm ikea drawers. This one is the 7 year old and he wanted to be more grown up.

Buy the bedding/accessories first and then use them as a staring point for the paint colour........
much easier that way round

nicename · 10/09/2013 09:35

Blue. It was blue when it was my study and when we redecorated when he was older he chose almost the same colour.

CatAmongThePigeons · 10/09/2013 11:19

My 7 year old wanted yellow in the alcoves and off white on the rest. He has red curtains that are his choosing. We let him decide what it would be as he has to live with it too

wonkylegs · 10/09/2013 11:28

We've got brilliant white, with a bright red picture rail & fireplace, blue curtains & picture frames.
