I could just sit and weep...

Still have not exchanged after weeks of delay and my kids are supposed to be starting at new school in 2 days, but they cant even offer them a place til we have exchanged. I feel so sick and have even bought uniform. My girls are desperate to get back to school and are really excited and anxious and want to get on with it. I am also due back at work next week. AAAAARRRRGGGHHHH!

The bloody chain is being held up by a couple who are using a swedish bank.

I will have to keep the kids at home until we have sorted this out and could be a couple of weeks. I have already been at home with them for two weeks and we all need to get back to school/work/routine.

Any suggestions for keeping my sanity?

(((hugs)))

I've been there, it sucks. It's just about putting one foot in front of the other. It will end!

Make sure you never run out of wine!

Oh it's so frustrating when the delay is outside your control! Could you try to have some nice days out with the kids to take your mind off it? Fingers crossed that you exchange soon.

RavenVonChaos · 02/09/2013 10:58

Well my DP just came in for a coffee and he is having a shit morning at work so we just sat in the garden and I did have a weep. Feel a bit better and you are both so right.

I just wanted it all to dovetail for the kids really, now I realise that it was a far-fetched idea!

Kids are fine about it really - just an extended summer holiday but we all need a bit of routine back in our lives. I let my passport expire in May as I knew I was not going on holiday - but now I could do with just booking a lastminute flight and escaping for a week! Bloody typical.

Anyway, need to get on. Thanks for your support - I feel very lucky to be moving to a bigger house and know that I should count my blessings. Just need to keep reminding myself....

I really feel for you Flowers it's inconceivably frustrating.

How near London are you? You can make next day appt. with passport office and collect same day. Plan something with the kids while you wait - usually 4 hours I think.

RavenVonChaos · 02/09/2013 16:33

Yes I could get my passport sorted. Gonna discuss with DP tonight. I do live by the sea though so can at least escape to the beach. I might even drive up to my parents, drop the kids and then carry on to see some mates overnight. I have some childcare sorted for next week so will go into work and do as much as possible and then plan some trips with the kids. I have never been to London Zoo - so that is a possibility and will at least be quieter.

I feel better than I did this morning. Smile

We are in the sane situation except I have decamped to the new town to stay in a hotel so kids can start at the new school

Dp will deal with the actual
House move

didireallysaythat · 02/09/2013 21:24

The waiting is awful. Our sellers delayed the exchange so we didn't get our school application in until the summer holidays and then it couldn't be processed. Found out last Thursday that we didn't get the school we wanted. Spent the day frantically looking for childcare but with no luck ! Tomorrow we get a tour of the new school and find out about uniform etc. And school starts Wednesday.

I was so hoping that the move was going to be the most stressful bit. But no....

Nolda · 02/09/2013 21:56

So sorry, Raven and Drowned girl. We are waiting to exchange too. School starts on Wed and Monday for our DCs. We are frantically looking for short-term lets but it may be Travelodge next week. Stay strong!

RavenVonChaos · 02/09/2013 23:25

So could I go and live in a hotel in the area? Is that allowed?

How are your Dc's coping with all the uncertainty? Mine seem okay but are bickering non stop...bit that could just be the summer holidays.

Maybe I can get a hotel near the school and have a mini break!Grin

Raven you don't actually have to live in an area to go to school there. As long as there are school places you can apply for and accept a place anywhere in the country, there's nothing to say that you have to live near it.
Whether or not you want to is different, I realise (we were in your situation till last week and have only had our school place confirmed today - they start tomorrow!) but if you don't live that far away and are sure that the sale will go ahead then you could accept the offer?

thecatfromjapan · 02/09/2013 23:59

I've private messaged you, Raven. Hope it's going better.

Thanks for the advice. I do have a copy of our signed contract - which is a pretty good marker of our intention to live in the area.

I am cross because the guy at the LA "has a mountain of applications to process" - yes smart to have admissions of over the summer and nobody covering this work Blush

Just to update. Kids started today as the head and secretary were expecting and just told me to come in today as normal. They were fab - pegs named, stationery pack with their names on, buddies at the ready. Can't wait to collect them to see how it went!

Raven hope it went well.
Our DS started at his new school today after we moved over the summer. I've heard very little about it (as usual) so I guess it went ok.
I think after all the stress of getting him into a school I was far more worried about today than he was.
