Cream woodburner?

Will it stay cream? Doing up our 30's bungalow and in the process of getting quotes for new fire place. Room is cream with varnished floor boards and as we've ripped the old fire out currently just a brick builders opening. We need everything, hearth, some kind of surround and are putting in a small 5kw multi fuel stove. Like the look of cream ones but not sure about it looking good and then what colour for hearth? Anyone got any experience.

apparently not! We saw a charnwood one and were going to get it but the shop owner really put us off..apparently it requires a ridiculous amount of maintenance to keep it that way. He did say it was possible but very time consuming! So we went with black in the end.

See that was my fear - they look so beautiful online but I'm a bit of a slattern at heart and don't want extra work!

me too, it was never going to happen for us so we went for the black. Actually I'm glad we did, it looks great installed - better than I think the cream would've looked. I think they look better instore/online than real life tbh.

My cream one is nearly four years old. It's still beautiful apart from the (existing and reason for cheapness) chip on the door. It's no work to keep clean at all, a damp cloth now and then when it's still warm and don't leave anything on top of it. I'm a total slattern.

I can't imagine what sort of maintenance the shop owner is talking about. We do have a pot of paint from Carron to cover up the chip but as the instructions seem to involved some complicated firing times for the stove to 'cure' the paint, I've never bothered. Maybe that's what he was talking about. My children haven't managed to trash it particularly, although I did spend an annoying amount of time peeling a melted train of the top of it once. They bash it around all the time in the summer.

Maybe the shop owner just wanted to put me off in case I complained? Who knows! They looked lovely in the brochure I have to admit, but now we have a black stove I'm very happy with it. Just get one in time for winter OP!

Hope this isn't high jacking but what about a darker enamel?I've got my eye on a blue/black Jotul. I hadn't even considered maintenance.
