Recommendations for single bed with LARGE storage drawers underneath

Can anyone recommend a single bed with a large storage drawers underneath? The drawers really need to be able to hold a full holdall if that gives you any idea of the size I'm looking for! A white wooden bed which is a bit higher than normal (without being a kiddies high-sleeper!) with deep wooden drawers underneath would be ideal Smile. I haven't been able to find anything suitable on my trawls through the internet and wondered if anyone had any suggestions?

Would an ottoman bed work for you? I absolutely love our one as you get far more storage space than you tend to with drawers and it's easier to sort through as well.

Alternatively my son has a bed with a large drawer on casters underneath (which could be used as a roll out bed with a mattress in it) - we hide a lot of his toys in it, however it's not completely enclosed so anything in the drawer can get dusty.

this may be totally unhelpful and if so ignore it... but when i've had rooms with limited space, I've found that regardless of how big the drawers are, they never use enough of the space to make them a good deal. I've always instead gone for a simple bed frame that has quite a big gap floor-frame (at least 30cm) and then getting boxes that fit under - means you get much better use of space.

Boxes like these from Argos are pretty good cos they have wheels and open up on both sides.

If you're set on drawers, the only thing I can think of is Ikea!

What about a Warren Evans bed with extra deep underbed storage?

The build quality is excellent, really solid.

Okay, so it an ottoman bed one where the mattress part entirely lifts up? Hmmm, hadn't thought of that, that might work.

Smeehee can you see your son's toys when the drawer is under the bed? I like my mess out of sight!

Reveal I know exactly what you mean about the drawers not utilising all the space, which is why I was hoping that someone could recommend a bed with big drawers. The boxes look good - something to bear in mind, but I'd really like a bed with a drawer that is as deep as the bed. I think it might be wishful thinking.

Thanks both, for your replies.

The Ikea Hemnes daybed is brilliant - the drawers are absolutely massive and you can just buy a normal mattress for it if you don't think you'll ever pull it out to use as a double. In fact Ikea storage beds are generally good and you can go have a play before you buy.

Snowgirl1 · 29/08/2013 15:50

Pongping that might be exactly what I'm looking for. Deep enough to hide my crap out of sight and big enough for lots of crap!

Was just going to suggest Ikea Hemnes daybed, but I see MummytoMog beat me to it!

Snowgirl1 · 29/08/2013 15:58

MummytoMog I've just goggled the Ikea Hemnes bed - that's the sort of thing that I had in my mind. This is great, I've gone from no options to quite a few options - thank you!

This has loads of storage underneath.

pinkje · 29/08/2013 16:21

Just be careful with your little one's safety. I've heard of younger siblings being shut in these type of storage beds - thankfully no damage done but it is something to watch for.

ShatnersBassoon · 29/08/2013 16:29

You could say that about any drawers or cupboards, pinkje!

SmeeHee · 30/08/2013 00:59

My son's toys are hidden from normal sight (glance around the room) but if you're on your knees in front of the drawer you can spot it's full of lego. Grin

An ottoman bed is the best for hiding mess as most people have no idea. I particularly love ours as I hide the children's presents and stuff I absolutely do not want them messing with in there. You can even get lockable ottomans, but that may be a step too far if you're just wanting to hide away your clutter. Wink

Glad to see that you've been given several options to look at and hope you find a solution that works well for you.

Shatner thanks - that's the sort of height of bed I'd originally been thinking of but I think I need deeper drawers as DH has a big camera bag (think backpack sized) that I want to store - but the cupboard in the middle of that bed might do for that...decisions, decisions.

Smeehee thanks, I don't have much intention of getting down on my hands and knees (as I might spot the dust bunnies!), so that's definitely an option.

pinkje the thought of my DD (20 months) staying still long enough to put her in a drawer, or not make a racket if she was put in a drawer is appealing, but unlikely to happen!
