Exterior colour scheme

For the past 8 years or so we've had our house painted similar colours and feel that it's high time for a change. The trouble is we can't decide on a colour scheme!

At the moment the windows, door frame/surround and upper masonry are F&B Pale Hound and the front door and side gate are F&B Green Blue (previously Powder Blue). Everyone seems to have similar colours and we fancy something a bit bolder, but not hideous just for the sake of being different.

We'd quite like to paint the masonry and windows a different colour from each other this time (the lower bay window isn't surrounded by masonry - just the upper) and we need colours that don't clash horribly with red brick.

I have F&B, Little Greene, Fired Earth and Mylands of London paint charts, but am feeling a bit muddled now and could use a fresh perspective. The colours we pick either end up being too similar to what we have or just aren't quite right.

Any ideas as to what could look fresh, smart and a little less tired?

The US website BHG (Better Homes and Gardens) has numerous articles on exterior paint schemes. Here is a link to just one to get you started.

Of course, Britain has different light, different house styles, etc. But you never know what my give you an idea you can use.
