Kardean - does it need to be/is your laid perfectly tight together and flat?

We've just had our hall, dining room and kitchen done in kardean. The hall and dining room is the same wood effect and the kitchen a stone effect.

I'm just checking that my installer has done the job sufficiently really as IMO it doesn't seem perfect, but I'm not sure if perfection is needed.

He had to lay ply on floorboards in the hall and dining room first (not kitchen but he screeded or whatever that). There are in the dining room the occasional tile which is ever so slightly raised from the next plank along (only maybe a mm or so) and also the occasional mm gap between planks (others are tight together). Also, between the change in floors between the dining room and kitchen there's a little raised bit where they're not exactly the same height (again, maybe a couple of mm). You can't obviously see it but you can clearly feel it when you walk along between the 2 rooms. He said he will silicon between the 2 floors to overcome this but I'm wondering if I should ask him to take up a board and somehow make it so they are both the same height? I mean, we assumed they would be perfectly flush between the 2 rooms...

I've tried googling this to find an answer but can't. The closest thing I've found is a thread somewhere on installers of kardean and one of which mentioned siliconing around the edge of the floor around the skirting etc is lazy work as it should go straight to the wall but our installer did just this [the siliconing] !! Is this also true?

Hopefully someone will help me on this as said floor man is coming back this week to finish off something so if he does need to make good I need to get him to do so quickly but I'm not sure what's normal.

yes I did mean karndean Blush . He definitely put green latex scree in the kitchen, not (as far as I saw) on the ply in dining room/hall though.

Assuming you mean karndean? Did he put a green latex scree coat on top the ply before he put it down? We have large area (9m long room plus hall) done and it is all level - some very small gaps between a few planks. No silicone around edges - out fitter did day that was lazy practice, but we had floor laid pre skirting boards so easier to get flush edge. Having said that it is neat and tight up to all door frames and fixed kitchen island etc. the only area that there is a very minimal difference in level is where a very small portion of the new concrete screed has settled but not a fault of the flooring. Hope that helps - good luck!

thanks dorset. No, I'm 90% he didn't put the green stuff down before laying the floor (I saw him putting the glue down and sticking the tile down and there was just ply there) and the silicon looks quite shoddy IMO Confused
