Everest double glazing

DM had a conservatory fitted about 20 years ago by Everest. Last month one of the windows shattered (the internal pane of the double glazing) and she called Everest out to have a look and quote for a replacement pane. They have quoted her £500. They have asked that she pay the price in full before they start the work, but they haven't given her a start date. I called customer services and they advised to send the cheque to them and quote the ref number, with a note to ask them to contact DM.
I've fortunately never had to deal with double glazing sales people but is this normal procedure?
I've only ever paid builders etc in instalments.
Thanks for any advice.

I had real problems with an Everest window installation many years ago and the fact that I held some money back when I wasn't happy with the wrk was the only thing that made them improve the job!

Hmm Everest Windows are a national company and I have found that the national companies aren't as good as the more local ones. Thats just in my experience, but judging from both of yours I think I may be right!

I've never heard of anyone paying the price in full before. Normally they ask for a small deposit.

Melfish check other company prices to compare. A lot of companies do replacement windows.

^ They can put you in touch with local companies, worth a try? Good luck
