I painted our hallway yesterday and bizarrely discovered that I really enjoy painting, which is good as there is a lot to do in our new house! I'm going to do the second coat today but do I need to cut in again or can I just take the roller as close to the ceiling as I dare?

It depends on how well the paint has gone on. I generally find I need to cut in at least twice otherwise it looks streaky.

I've just painted our utility room first coat and would say it will def need cutting in again.

HootShoot · 19/08/2013 08:45

I thought you might say that, I'll make sure I cut in again. Thanks!

One more questions - sorry! I've just discovered the fleecy bit is coming away from the roller so I'll either have to glue it back on or buy a new one. Do you all bother washing your new rollers before using them for the first time? The man on the dulux video said I would need to get rid of loose fibres, but if I can avoid having to wait for it to dry that would be great.

I've never washed a roller in my life. I wrap them in clingfilm over night, and chuck them at the end of the job.

HootShoot · 19/08/2013 11:26

That sounds incredibly sensible! So you obviously haven't had problems with fibres then?

that's annoying. I Tash them at the end of the day but never had that. I'd buy a new one unless the shop was too far away in which case I'd try to fix it!
