Asbestos and damp found in house survey .. What to do?

I've just had the survey back on our potential house, it's 1930's. the survey states there is asbestos in the cowl on the chimney, whilst pointing out the chimney needs to be re pointed within a year. There is also asbestos in the garageroof ( joined to the house) and an asbestos flue fro the boiler ( in the kitchen).
There is also damp in the downstairs wc.
Des anyone have experience with anything like this? I don't know how concerned I should be or if I should think about negotiating the price down according to the work needed.
Any advice would be great.

I do, as I almost bought a house which had it in the ceilings. It needs to be professionally removed by a reputable company (ring your council and they will tell you local one) it might be a bit costly but if removed correctly its not the end of the world. We had to pull out of the sale but it was for another reason.

Damp also is not the end of the world. You just need to find out what water is causing damp and fix it. I recommend you looks at this website which has great info and was recommended on here last winter. Google

Also, we weren't going to negotiate price down for the house with Asbestos in it but that was because we already had the price lowered from original asking price so I didn't think it was fair. It doesn't mean you can't though. I would get someone out ASAP to do an asbestos survey (about £250-£350) and quite for removal. Of course, you could leave it undisturbed but I wasn't happy to do that, it would have worried me.

Why are you reviving every 'damp' thread to say this?
