Herne Bay High is a really great school, staff are very supportive. They have a house system and non teaching staff to man the phones for each house so you can get in contact with the right person straight away. They also have vertical tutoring with form time at the start and end of the day to address any problems. I was very impressed with the pastoral side, which sounds like it would be beneficial for your DD.

Swan Valley is a very large school as far as I know, I think HBHS is smaller, which would also be beneficial.

Have you had a tour yet?

Thank you for replying. No i havent had a tour yet. We had a interview but school was too full in yr 9 to offer d a place. Unfortunately d was very upset and felt rejected by school shes very sensative. now she is scared she will be bullied all over again she dosent know area or other kids her age here. she is suposed to start sept but dont know if they will offer her a taster day. is whitstable college the better school for my dd she has learning shortcomings and is behind in maths would hern help her. thanks for your advice.

I would recommend HBHS over Whitstable Community. If she doesn't mind catching a bus, there are some fab schools in Canterbury if she already feels rejected by HBHS. I recommend Archbishops or Canterbury Academy. Look them up!

Thank you for your help. I am coping with a depressed 14 yr old and a newly retired husband, its very stressful at present here. Good to be able to chat to other mums.

Oh dear, that does sound stressful! Well if you get time, check out the school websites and make enquiries. It's always worth 'shopping around' especially when your DD feels the way she does. Having options might make her feel more in control of her situation. There are some great schools round here and regardless of Ofsted or reputation, it's all about finding the best fit for your DD!

Good luck OP! Smile
