Places to live in north west London

Myself, husband & baby are looking for recommendations of places to live in NW London. We currently live SE London but need better access to m4. We want somewhere that feels more london than suburbs. Any recommendations appreciated as we don't know the area at all.

I used to live in Kilburn, in the Mapesbury Conservation area, was lovely and leafy green, although the highroad wasn't that attractive. I wanted to live in West Hampstead but it was quite a bit more expensive. Willesden Green up and coming. What is your budget? If I had the cash I would be in Hampstead in a flash...

Thankyou. Our budget is max 450k for 3-4 bed.

We lived in Mill Hill years ago, which I loved because it was 20 mins to Kings Cross (we lived on the Broadway near the Thameslink station) but a few minutes walk to fields. We had Pizza Express, a good pub, M&S Food etc.

I used to live in Cricklewood, many years ago, pre DC and that was ok but I've no idea what the schools are like and there is nothing coming up in your price range.

I'm not sure if this will work but I did this map on rightmove.

Unfortunately the places in your budget I mostly wouldn't want to live; Neasden, Harlesden etc. but I'm prepared to stand corrected!

Hanwell is not too bad. But overground trains, no tube.

Brent Cross is an ok area.

Another one in a different part of Hanwell. You'd have to loose the fake beams!

A doer upper. But Oaklands school is well regarded.

Stay very away from Kingsbury and Harrow.

West Hampstead or Hampstead if you have the cash. Not sure about prices these days though.

Second Mill Hill

NW London I'd suggest Mill Hill, possibly Stanmore. For easy M4 access though, I'd say better with Chiswick, Ealing and areas around there like Northfields, for example. Which direction of travel on the M4, into London or out? There are nice areas heading away from London, though perhaps too suburban if that's not what you want!
