playroom flooring?

Hi,

Any suggestions for good playroom flooring? I have carpet everywhere else except the kitchen/family room and the hall. DP wants carpet in playroom as its an extension so quite cold but I think a hard floor with a rug is more practical.

The kids are 1 and 3.5yrs.

Don't want to.spend loads, and prefer a white/grey colour maybe rather than wood or will that make it feel colder ? Does it need underlay?

If i were lucky enough to have a spare room to use as a playroom, I would definitely not have carpet in it! I have a 1 and 3 year old too
I would probably go with laminate or Lino, they are relatively warm for a wipe clean floor. With a heavily patterned rug

We've got laminate everywhere downstairs, the kitchen is quarry tiled. It's super in the playroom and we have a huge soft piled rug in front of the sofa too. Dd spilt a full glass of pink milk in there today and it just mopped up so easily instead of having to get the carpet cleaner out etc.

Do you need underlay for a wooden floor?

Problem is I ordered the carpet at 430pm today and have now changed my mind! Do you think they will let me cancel my order if I phone first thing tomorrow??

We're going for wood in ours (to match other rooms downstairs) so it can grow up with the kids to become an adult room, but still be practical.

We have artic grey carpet in lounge (pale grey) and the playroom opens out from this with double doors so I was thinking of going for quickstep white teak or their grey coloured one.(if I can cancel my carpet order!!!h

Yes to underlay.
We went for laminate instead of real wood, mainly cost, but also factored in our dog as claws can scratch real wood terribly.

Fingers crossed you can cancel. Why not send them an email now and then call to follow up first thing tomorrow?

I just emailed them so hopefully ok, they wouldn't have cut the carpet between late afternoon and first thing would they ? Hopefully they won't get in.a stooshie about it. Their website mentions non refundable 3% bank charges though

Longer term we will be adding another extension on so the flooring will be replaced then so hopefully get something cheap.

We have lino in our playroom, also an extension.

whilst the colour is not our choice it is very practical, wipe clean, not cold underfoot, not as noisy as laminate, we plan to replace it at some point but will use lino again.

They said they cut the carpet an hour after I placed my order,so tough.I have to take it :(

That's a shame but still get big rug, will help reduce any messes.

I can have à refund but it would,be less £95, sigh
