Tiles - grid style or brick effect?

I am doing up a flat to sell on and have bought some 300x150mm flat, matt tiles for the shower room. I prefer a brick layout but, when I bought them, the man at the shop mentioned that a grid-style series of straight lines are considered more modern. Since I am selling this flat on (and so my personal preferences are a bit irrelevant Hmm), I thought I'd ask the rest of you how I should lay them out. Just to reiterate, the tiles aren't the metro style size. Any thoughts?

My preference is grid unless they are metro tile size.

I had my shower done last year and had the tiler set the tiles in the brick-style formation.
My rationale for this was so that there wasn't a continuous vertical line of grout between the tiles which would encourage the formation of puddles at the bottom of the line and consequently, mould and mildew growth around the bottom line of tiles.
I'm very happy with the result and there is not a trace of anything nasty around the floor line (but this may be because I'm now quite obsessional about drying the shower after use).

I've seen similar tiles in both patterns and personally prefer brick style pattern. It looks more interesting.

Brick. Always brick.

kitsmummy · 07/08/2013 10:33

grid, I think brick layout is pretty dated these days

MummytoMog · 07/08/2013 11:31

You see, I think grid will date horribly and brick is classic. Maybe ask an estate agent?

Thanks for all your replies. We've gone for ... brick.
