I have seen this in store, and is v shiny and looks lovely, so something must be wrong... Anyone have any experience of this type of worktop?

I have a dark grey gloss laminate work top and wouldn't have it again to be honest. It takes washing, wiping and drying each time or it goes really streaky.

hi , in addition to Areyoumadorisitme's brilliant comment - the higher the gloss, the more damage a knife edge will make, and the more noticeable it will look too... they look great yes, but if you want it to look great for years and years, think again - hi gloss wont wear well over time!

We have this in one of our rentals, we chose it when the house was built and it was a bad mistake. We currently live in a house built by the same developer and they have now removed gloss worktops from their options due to complaints.
They scratch very easily and look pants, though lovely when new I admit.

Gah ! Thanks everyone. I feared as much, it looks too good to be true, so it must be so. Any suggestions instead then please ? Doing a house up, not our forever house, but need to look good in 12 m to flog on...
Was considering granite, but we live in v hard water area and local friends say No, due to lots of polishing....
Hate the feel of Corian, too slimy...
Wood - unhygenic and goes slimy/black.
Maia - ££££

Thanks

mottled laminate.

Durable, does not show marks, easy to match, inexpensive.

Therefore unfashionable

However your buyers will not like your kitchen, whatever you do.

I agree with Piglet, I would pick something inexpensive and easy to maintain. We picked the same "fake" granite worktops for our house but the matt version. It looks good doesn't need constant wiping and when we can afford to we will replace with granite.
I wouldn't waste the money now you won't recoup it on the house, if people don't like it they won't feel like they are paying for it and can replace at their expense.
