Farrow and ball walls - Will they look ok with normal white woodwork/ ceiling?

Having left colour choices to the last minute like I knew I would I am now panicking about what to buy.

Wall colour has been narrowed down to either bone, elephants breath or oxford stone.

Our decorator supplies all the 'white' paint so much cheaper to use that. It's not brilliant white just white.

However in the shop the sales assistant says white will be too harsh and I should go with Wimborne white.

So has anyone just used bog standard white does it look ok? There will be quite a lot of white in the room high skirting, picture rail and above, ceiling, built in alcove cupboard and shelves.

Help! Decorator is coming tomorrow!

I've used a plain white with an F&B grey in one room and it looks fine, though generally I have gone with the same brand all over which I do think I prefer. I have used a lot of very clear greys though, which might be a bit different? I think it is a question of the finish (how matt is this decorator's paint going to be?) as much as it is of the colour if you see what I mean.

We have Wimborne White and similar F&B colours - Shaded White and something else close to it. And it does look very nice, calmer and softer.

But it is such a personal thing.

I would use eggshell on the wood not gloss. F&B has a slight sheen in wood paint, but not sure about the walls.

Yes there is a blue tone to pure brilliant white as a brightener is added, however if you use a trade white it is usually softer, also use eggshell on the woodwork rather than gloss.
F & B has 2 finishes in emulsion, Modern which has a sheen and is slightly washable and Estate which is flat matt, it depends on which room you are painting.
Modern is recommended for kitchen, bathrooms, hallways & high traffic areas.

I've just used brilliant white matt eggshell from Earth Friendly Paints in a few rooms with a range of different F&B colours on the wall (Shaded White, Joa's White and another) and it looks great. I've also got Wimbourne White and White Tie in a few rooms and that's lovely too - but am v happy with the Earth Friendly Paints one. It's water based so not as tough as an oil based white but hopefully won't yellow over time.

I've got trade white woodwork and F+B or similar on the walls. looks good IMO - I'm not a fan of off white or coloured woodwork, except in 'character' country houses. I think the clean white brings out the wall colour. wouldn't use pure brilliant white though as I find it too glowy.
