Ds got loads of water over the edge of bath and some water came through the edges of the ceiling in the kitchen. I have mopped up all the water and the drips have stopped is there anything else i need to do? Have anxiety and am in a bit of a panic here!

Happened to us. Don't switch on lights if wiring near the damp.
Open windows for airflow and in this weather it will dry quickly.
Good luck!

Thanks will open window - just checked and seems dry now. I am a bit of a panicker! And breathe ......

Don't worry about it, I've had that a few times.

It's actually a good thing that it's come through. Better that than it just sitting somewhere.

It'll dry quickly enough.

Unexpected water is always a shocker though isn't it, guaranteed to make the most level-headed of people flap!

I've had it too. It will dry, especially since it's summer now. :)

If it has come through a ceiling light fitting, don't use the light for 24-48 hrs. If there's anything electrical or precious underneath or nearby, move it.

Thanks glad its not just me. Didn't come through lights just down walls where the floor/ceiling meet the walls - they correspond between the kitchen and bathroom above. Not floods just drips managed to mop the floor quick. Think i am more worried because i rent - if the house was mine i wouldn't worry so much.

That's exactly where it comes though in mine.

First time it happened I crapped myself! Second time, I plonked a tea towel underneath it and went back to the sofa. Blush

I did this in our rented house. The drips came through the kitchen ceiling and covered the top of the microwave oven. It just dried and it's all fine apart from a bit of cracked paint on the ceiling, which I'm hoping they won't notice when we move out or will treat as wear and tear.Blush

Remove the bath panel so air can circulate under the bath. Roll or lift floor coverings. Lift floorboards if you can. If it is a chipboard floor examine it from time to time to see if it has gone crumbly and is ready for the tip. WBP ply is far better, in square-edged panels screwed down so they can easily be lifted.

If you ever get water lying on a ceiling, skewer a few small holes in it so the water can drip out. If the ceiling hangs down in a belly, ask around for a local plasterer because it will fall down later. Some modern plasterboards are foil backed and less absorbent but you must get the water away fast.

The ceiling will probably go yellow and need stain-blocker before redecorating.

If the ceiling falls down it will make a terrible mess so much better to deal with it first.
