choosing an induction hob....

please come and talk to me about it....

finally found one at a friend's today and saw the screen-like controls. I can imagine the control panel breaking ..... which ones have robust controls?

Friend also said the hob gets upset if you spill water on it - switches itself off for a while and sulks....

I have a Neff one. It has been great, but does switch off if you spill water on it. This is very rare- water boils so quickly, you don't mind hanging around until it is time to simmer.

They definitely boil very quickly - makes up for the turning off, which happens once in a blue moon.

The touch controls are very robust and make them very easy to clean. There's nothing mechanical on them to go wrong or let water or muck in.

We replaced an older one which had bitten the dust with a basic Beko one. I've got used to the lack of timer - I just use a separate one - and the only thing it's lacking is a decent large ring for my big saute pan, stock pot etc. I just make sure I stir stuff well to compensate, when I'm frying.

thanks both.

greyvix - yes, my friend's is a Neff too.

ouryve - ooh, I need a time in my life! My current oven and hob don't have them, so the toaster oven with its dial seems like the latest breakthrough to me.
