Lighting for a north-facing kitchen

We are in the process of buying our forever home (fingers crossed) and it has a north-west facing garden. We will have a large kitchen at the back of the house (approx 30sqm) and it has double doors into the garden and a big window but I want to ensure the lighting is good for the autumn/winter months when we might not get as much sun.

What lighting do you suggest.

NB: I have no idea about lighting so please explain yourself!

Thanks Smile

The house we've just moved into has a north west facing kitchen and even though it's got a massive main window & 2 side window it's quite dark.
We are refurbishing the lot and going for a much lighter units & counter tops (currently dark brown & black), light floor (currently grey), White Walls (currently dark red) and a combination of lighting.
Main lighting will be recessed spots - LED g10 fittings. I prefer the recessed ones as they are easy to keep clean, grease & dust free. In the huge larder cupboard there is a light. Under wallcupboard lighting using strip LEDs and a feature light - 3 bulbs with decorative fittings over the kitchen table.
All 4 areas of lighting are going to be controlled separately, so you only need to put certain bits on depending on what you are using.
The LEDs are very energy efficient, although you must be careful which G10 bulbs you buy as they are different colour whites - my preference is for warm White.
