How much would you expect to pay to have a kitchen worktop fitted?

Nothing fancy - we're probably going to go with a wood laminate from ikea or b&q, trying to get a few more years life out of our current kitchen while we save up for a new one.

There are approximately five metres of counter space, with the slight problem of a heavy porcelein sink (inset, not butler style) which we would like to keep.

How much should I expect to pay a workman to remove the old worktop and fit a new one? We're in Yorkshire if that makes a difference!

Around £150?

I reckon 5 hours work, might cost a bit more depending on how many corners/joins they have to cut butt and scribe joints for, and how much of a PITA re-fitting the sink is.

£150 came into my head as well but this is not a job to scrimp on and the quality of finish will make a big difference to the look of the kitchen.

I just got a quote for replacing 2 lengths (about 7m total), no mitred corners but cut out for sink and gas hob. £200 labour and cost of worktops (£250). Am in London though and there seems to be a big North/south divide for labour costs!

I got approx 5m of IKEA solid wood worktop fitted for £120, 3 years ago. This included insetting the sink and gas hob, one mitred corner, and a fiddly bit to fit round the chimney breast of the old fireplace. :) (Yorkshire tho!)

does the old one need taking out as well, this may increase the price. Max up to £200

I paid £200 as a day rate for someone to fit my wood work tops. About 6 metres, cut out for hob, joining a breakfast bar bit and doing a lovely job of rounding off all the edges. Also did all the upstands. Took a full day to do but he was really good. I'm in the northwest.

taking the sink out and putting it back will need plumbing ability, so it's not just woodwork. It may also need two strong women to lift and replace it.
