question about design of extension...

we are building a single storey rear extension which has a garden room, utility and then study - the garden room has French doors onto the garden, utility has sky lights and stable door with glazing, but I cant decide whether to have a glazed door from study onto the garden or just a window - I know that the door will be lovely in the summer but cuts down a bit on flexibility ie if we wanted to put a bed into the study and size of desk. any thoughts..

I'd probably just put a window as you don't necessarily want a study to become a pass-through room.

Agree with just a window.
In a smaller room it will ease the placement o furniture/storage.

I also agree with just a window. That will give you more options regarding use/furniture while you get used to your lovely new extension. As lalalonglegs says, one of the problems with a room with a door is that the room could end up as a kind of corridor. It's quite difficult to predict traffic patterns when you're in the planning stage. You can always change your mind in a few years' time.

If you go for a window, but want the option to change it for a door some time down the line, tell your architect/builder, so they can ensure that if you do eventually decide to replace the window with a door, the top of the window/placement of the lintel will be at a height that just knocking out a few bricks will leave a gap that a standard door will fit into.

Window. I think the door incase lintle idea is great.
