We need to replace the carpet in our spare room, soon to be nursery.
Our flat was the site office for our block of flats when it was being built and the carpet wasn't protected properly. We've had it cleaned professionally a couple of times but after a month or two the stains and the marks on the carpet seem to "re-grow" (which is how we didn't see it when we moved in first, it must have been cleaned ahead of time).
We have a rug over it now, but I think it's time to replace the carpet with the baby coming.

I don't know where to start and what is the best type of carpet to get?

We are only planning to stay another two years max in the flat so apart from budget being very tight, we don't want to spend a fortune on something we won't be living with.

I live in SW London. Can you recommend types of carpet to avoid/look for? And if you have any shops you would recommend or never set foot in I would appreciate it!

What size is the room? You might be able to get a remnant of carpet which is significantly reduced, for the simple fact that it is too small to be sold for larger jobs? Try looking for local carpet shops or even carpet right.

I prefer wool carpets - also safer from a fire hazard perspective.

thanks Creature that's a good idea about remnants.
The room is 2.75m x 4.1m. I wonder would that be too big for remnants?

Thank you for the info about wool carpets too. I'm fairly clueless!

No I think that's a good size. You might be able to get a carpet 5m wide so a 3m length is a good "off cut".

Thanks creature that's really good to know.
