Slimline v classic shower trays? Help!

Does anyone have experience of a slimline shower tray (40mm thick)? Such a boring question, but have a v small ensuite and need extra clearance as standard shower doors these days are 1850 mm high - v tight measurements if we go for the classic tray (deeper). Seem to be tying myself up in knots researching this !

Oh, should have said, I'm worried about the potential for overflow on the slimline tray as there's no, or hardly any well to catch water in them.

I'm pretty sure ours is slimline (I think) and it's never overflowed

We have a slimline tray, and not overflowed yet, even with a power shower. You need to keep your plughole clear, though!

They look much more modern and contemporary than standard ones.

slimline great have one in shower room with low ceiling. Works well..fast plughole. suggest replacing boards underneath with water resistant plywoods nice as nd thick to ensure stability..

Thanks so much for your replies. We are looking at putting tray in one half of the room (v small!) and putting in a bifold shower door wall to wall. Am hoping that so long as it's well sealed there'll be no leakage !! I feel a lot better now :-)

It's fine - just make sure you clean out the drainage regularly.

We have something similar to this but with a 1000m screen and we don't get overflow or leakage.

Thanks fussychica! Ours will also be 1000mm wide but no room to open outward. It looks fab. We are going for black floor disco tiles with white everywhere else and a bit of purple mosaic :)

It doesn't open Jelly it's fixed in place we just walk in at the open end of the 1600 tray. We thought about having a sliding door enclosure but we had had the open style before and knew it gave a modern and spacious feel to the room so went with it again.
