So went looking for flooring yesterday.
Pretty keen on slate for the kitchen.
Had a look for inspiration for the bathroom and thought the Jerusalem Travestine would be lovely.
Lady in the shop was very against it. Said it gets grotty and damaged. Is this the case?
Anyone got it?

How about limestone? I'm assuming it wears well?

Just looking for some advice really I have porcelain tiles in old house which are nice and easy to clean but love stone.

I have travertine in the bathroom, been in about 18 months and still looks fab, you have reminded me though we should reseal it soon, we were told to do it every year or two, just paint on sealant with a roller or paintbrush.

Ok so one vote in favour.
Re sealing every 2 years doesn't sound too onerous.
What colour did you get?

I've had it in my last two bathrooms and its been perfect. The only thing that puts me off is its a bit overused and I worry it'll become the avocado bathroom of the future. I'm moving and planning a new bathroom and and struggling with what alternative tile to use.

Our travertine has deteriorated where there were bigger honed and filled holes. Maybe high heels did it. I have filled most of the holes up again with grout but it is not ideal. Probably would go for a more expensive tumbled stone instead if I was to do it again.

That's what the lady said happened Spotty
I don't think I'll risk it I don't want to have to do touch up jobs.

We have travertine in the kitchen and bathroom. I wouldn't go for it again.

Holes do appear and we have some cracks too. We didn't put it in the shower as we knew it would cause problems there.
