Marmoleum or Amtico?

I suspect we'll pick whichever matches best, but how do people find they compare?

It's for a kitchen - I guess durability is not an issue for either as they have Marmoleum in sports centres etc. so our kitchen won't be higher traffic than that!

But I'm also concerned about warmth underfoot, as it's for a cold room with a concrete floor.

We've had both as it happens, but the Amtico is in our current bathroom and the Marmoleum was in a kitchen in a previous flat, both warm rooms so it's hard to judge.

I much prefer Marmoleum partially because it has good eco credentials and gives off less chemicals.
I also prefer it's appearance. I've used it on loads of jobs and it's always being doing great.

Good point about the eco credentials wonky, hadn't thought of that.

I think you need a layer of plywood under it anyway. Do you have space to add a layer of insulation too? Love Marmoleum, we've used in our last three houses.

Haha! Just wanted to say that until I looked at the Chat category I though this was a name thread and I was a bit Hmm...

Marmoleum
We have it in our kitchen/diner and after 9 years it looks like new.
And Amtico is horrid (sorry)

Meryl, my bathroom Amtico is lovely Smile.

Eugene, if I ever have a third child Grin.

Polyflor Camero

NotGoodNotBad · 20/06/2013 08:16

Saw samples of Polyflor at Behar and it looked interesting - but looking online it seems to be more commercial than domestic?

I found out about Polyflor when I went to an independent carpet shop, I was looking for a good laminate but when I said I wanted it to go in my hallway and downstairs WC he showed me the Polyflor.
He said that they fit it a lot in HA houses as it is so hardwearing.
I sent off for some samples and choose a waxed pine one. It comes in long strips. I am very pleased with it and will have it in my kitchen when the time comes.
He said it was becoming very popular in houses as more people find out about it. It is def worth a look.

I have nothing useful to add to the conversation, but when I first saw the thread title I thought it was in Baby Names and was Shock

Marmoleum would end up being Marmie for short...
