anyone got any bright ideas? its a massive room, bigger than bedrooms in some houses but no loo. the point of the end suite is night time loo trips is it not?

side wall do no unsightly drain on the front of the house etc

So that you don't have to lie in bed listening to your spouse having a shit.

is there a point to en-suites? Never got the appeal.

poocatcherchampion · 15/06/2013 09:24

plenty of other loos for him to go in.

I don't really care for en suites either but if I have one then I'd like to use it. I bath with dd so we'll use the family bathroom for that. so its basically a pointless room without a loo!

It's the anteroom to the bedroom. Where you go for your sensual candled scented bath before ... crashing on the bed with tiredness.

aftermay · 15/06/2013 09:39

Maybe you could make it into a walk-in wardrobe - with bath attached.

I don't like en suites for the simple reason of having a loo near my bed!

We were in a holiday cottage once with the 'ensuite' being a toilet behind what was barely more than a room divider. It didn't go all the way up. I preferred going down the creaky stairs to use another loo.

I dont get the appeal of ensuites, unless for people who don't want their teenage children seeing them in the night or whatever, so 1 in a house makes sense plus a family bathroom, but not more than that. Surely something better could be done with the space?

Recently spent days looking for holiday house to rent for 10 people, and loads were 4 bedrooms so you have to have 3 in a room with snoring and all, but all with ensuites. Finally got a 6 bed one with 1 ensuites 1 other bathroom, and a downstairs loo. Plenty!

We have an ensuite, though this standard in Australia. No-one is allowed to shit in it. That's for the downstairs bathroom.

lalalonglegs · 15/06/2013 12:44

It's possible that the waste pipe can't be brought to that room and the owners didn't fancy a macerator loo so preferred to just have basin and bath/shower which are far simpler to plumb in.

poocatcherchampion · 15/06/2013 12:51

that's what I'm worrying about lala. cos that would be annoying!

Shitting & pissing near where you sleep and shag is gross. Just gross. Can't understand the newfangled thing of sticking a shower and loo in a walk in wardrobe.

Chubfuddler · 15/06/2013 19:15

When I still lived with my husband, and we had an ensuite, he was not allowed to dump in it.

I see no need for a loo in the ensuite provided there is another upstairs somewhere. It's for privacy so you can bath/shower and dress without leaving your bedroom.

LtEveDallas · 15/06/2013 19:18

That's my perfect ensuite. Big enough to use as a dressing room, with shower, bath and no loo. Bliss.
