New glass roof for conservatory

Hello
Can anyone give me an idea of how much it would cost to replace the glass roof on our conservatory? We would want the new all-singing-all-dancing insulated, reflective, self-cleaning glass, and the roof size is about 18ftx11ft.
I can't seem to find anywhere that will give me a ball park figure for the glass, but until we have a rough idea, we have no idea if it is worth looking at seriously.
Thanks in advance Smile.

I was quoted about £5500 for new glass (and £4600 for new plastic!). My conservatory is a bit larger and is non standard shape - so pricier I'd guess.

Ah, thanks for that Smile. Was yours the good U rating glass? Can you recall which co it was?
Thanks

I think it was nice glass, can't remember. It was a local guy who does conservatory repairs - I can dig it out if you are local to Bristol?

Have you thought of putting a proper roof on the conservatory? We have one of these and it is just like another room - easy to keep cool in summer and warm in winter.

I have no idea of the cost though, sorry.

Thanks wendybird. We are East Anglia, so a bit too far for your guy I think!
Primrose - we had thought about a proper roof, but then it wouldn't be a 'proper' conservatory would it, and we'd have to have building/planning involved surely? Plus, would the walls be up to the job? Hmm

I don't know, sorry, no idea about planning at all. Ours was there when we bought the house, and it's great, just like another room. We had a normal conservatory in our old house and couldn't use it. It was freezing in the winter and hot and stuffy in the summer. We used it to store toys. :(

I had quotes for putting in insulation and a ceiling as well - roof revive wanted about 3K and a local company wanted nearly 7k to put light tiles on the outside and insulate / plaster the inside. I've done precisely nothing about any of it, deciding to live in the house and see what the issues are. Despite being south facing, it hasn't been awful - I open the windows and the doors on really hot days (few and far between). The bigger issue is the winter - we had rads put in which made it fine in the day, but it was really cold at night when we turned the rads off. I'm sure it cost a bomb to keep it heated, but it runs across the entire back of the house and is in constant use. I do love it, but we are going to have to do something about insulating as much as we can at some point.

Where is your house? I did some google work when doing a bit larger project of our own in Bucks. IQ Glass UK were really helpful (01923 218 348 www.iqglassuk.com)

Try giving them a call (or email - scared me how quick they responded!)

I see some comments about IQ Glass. I would not recommend this company. We were past to their "small works" team (Contemporary Glazing) despite receiving IQ case studies, visiting the IQ showroom and receiving an IQ brochure. We spend £20,000 in July 2015 on a glass structure which continues to leak (it is now September 2015). They installed a structure without a door, so we were open to the elements! The structure continues to leak and has damaged electrics and plaster work. We cannot install a staircase and cannot move in. This has been going on for several months now and despite them acknowledging it needs attention, we are getting nowhere. We have appointed an independent surveyor (at a cost to us of £300) to advise IQ what is wrong. The MD refuses to take my calls. Things go wrong in life but it is how they are dealt with that matters. My recommendation would therefore be to give this company a very wide berth.
