Any thoughts or experiences please. Not a bathroom that would be used every day so not really condensation issues.

Ta muchly

We have paper in our bathroom and separate loo. It was put in by the previous owners so not my personal choice but it works really well. Obviously the bath/sink/shower is tiled so no water really comes into contact with the paper and our bathroom doesn't suffer from any condensation issues, the ceiling is even papered and doesn't get at all damp.

I would certainly consider a paper in my next bathroom.

no reason why not. use a vinyl which will stand up to steam and splashes and can be washed down (if the seams come loose later, you can buy a seam adhesive).

I have also seen lining paper painted with emulsion, which is not so hard wearing and will get spotted with toothpaste and droplets of water and other fluids

Yes there will be tiles in the wet areas. Love paper in our downstairs loo but shied away in the main bathrooms... Pondering all the samples I got yesterday now!

btw ours is not a vinyl, it is actually quite a thick fibre-y texture (I know that sounds weird but can't think how else to describe it!)
