Can you mix tiles and showerwalls/aquaboards in one bathroom?

Or would it look odd? I want a board behind the shower, but not else where, but haven't found any photos or combinations.

I can't see the point tbh. We've just had showerwall put in our bathroom and I will never, ever go back to tiles.

My PILs have a mix - showerwall around bath and everywhere else tiled. It does look mismatched, even though they are both very plain.

I have shower wall in the shower cubicle only and the rest tiled, matching.
It looks fine!

Thanks 7 to 25, think I need to do more research. When you say matching, do you mean that the colours are an exact match, or just tied in to a colour scheme?

Sorry,
The showerwall and the tiles are both white

I've done both in schemes for clients. Tied the colour of the boards to the accent tiles in a White bathroom.
So mainly white tiles with accent tiles in bright colour which matched the showerboard. It looked really smart and we used it throughout in different colours in each ensuite.

Wonkylegs: where did you put accent tiles?

It depended on the rooms, there were 5 ensuites.
Some were round the mirror, some where a detail strip in a design across the wall.
The adult rooms were more understated(pale grey/white, aqua/white), the kids (lime green/white, orange/white, fuchsia/white) more vibrant.

They were all quite big rooms.
