Navy rooms. Have you painted a room dark blue?

I'm thinking of painting the sitting room in navy blue (hague blue F&B or sapphire something or other by dulux) Mainly behind the shelves on each side of the fireplace, poss the fireplace wall as well and then wallpapering the opposite wall in orla kiely navy stem wall paper...I am tempted to do the whole room navy with the back wall in the wallpaper but not sure if it might be too dark. We have one leather sofa and another paler stripe sofa plus an old wood gramophone sideboard. The windows will have white plantation shutters and the floor will be dark wood.
I'm also looking at painting the spare room which has a sofa bed/dark wood furniture all dark blue and having it resemble a sort of gentleman's study. I mainly like things white or pale grey in the house so am not sure if I am just having a 'moment' because I wear a lot of blue. I can see if we paint it dark it is going to be a bloody headache to paint over it again in a pale colour!!
Anyone else embraced navy??

Not navy, but painted the living room black and it looks great.

Navy can work well with dark wood- here

I think it depends on the room size and the light it has.

Painted DH's study and office in F&B Pitch Blue which isn't navy but is still a strong blue. It's a south facing room so works really well. Blue and white curtains, pale sand carpet and Wimborne White woodwork. Looks great.

I painted our kitchen/ dining room Breton blue and cream. The ceiling and woodwork are antique white. I have the orla k stem tea and coffee ceramic pots in the kitchen and cool 50's style blue and cream curtains. It looks fab!

This is on my wish list -- have seen it in a stunning restaurant - gold or silver framed mirrors look stunning on navy walls - go for it!

We painted our sitting room F&B Stone Blue - loved it. Small room but light.

The sitting rook is quite a decent size with a high ceiling and the spare room is a small double with a low ceiling, so I am guessing they would both look quite different. I quite fancy a room I can sit in with the papers and drink port (or watch The Voice..,). Shall commence painting!

Had a dark blue and white bedroom in 1968Shock it was stunning and VERY different at the time. I loved it but my parents didn't Grin.

DD's bedroom is very matte navy - lovely colour but it is dark, dark, dark. It helps that she has a white wooden ceiling and a large white (built in wooden) cupboard, which help to lighten it. It looks sophisticated but I'm not sure I would choose (it as here when we moved in). It would suit a study rather than a sitting room I think but it depends on how much the room ets etc.
