Any white paint experts about?

We are about to paint our bedroom white.

Can anyone recommend a good white paint or shall we just go for home base/b and q standard white paint?

Don't want to spend a fortune but equally if a cheaper paint is likely to yellow/mark easily etc then want to avoid that.

Thank you

I painted mine in Dulux trade pure brilliant white and have been very impressed with it, wipe able and a good solid white effect (due to the optical brighteners I guess) others I tried came out a bit grey even with a couple of coats. It's quite thick to apply.

Thanks flatmum for your recommendation

We've used b&q value white emulsion and it works well. It's got quite a chalky look about it, which makes it feel quite like farrow and ballGrin

Trade paint every time for white

We bought two 10L tubs of standard Crown white from B&Q and the coverage wasn't very good. It was on special offer. Bought a large tub of Dulux trade white and it is much better. Mind you it was probably twice the price, but it covers ceilings in one coat and with the Crown we could still see marks after 2 coats.

Thanks for the recommendation better

we used the type that goes on pink but dries white - found it really useful with the 2nd coat

We used Dulux Trade 'Timeless' which is very slightly off white, not so stark and cold as brilliant white but still very clean and fresh.

I prefer to avoid brilliant white. We did the ceilings with Laura Ashley chalk white, when we moved in 10 years ago and apart from mysterious splashes, it's stayed nice. They don't do that shade any more, unfortunately.

The crown milk white is quite nice, but it dries smelling like an old bathroom. When we've finished using up the last of what we have, I'll be resuming my search for a nice not-brilliant white paint!
