Hi
I am just looking for some inspiration.

We have a north facing front room so when we come to use it in the afternoon/evening it's not the brightest room in the house.

It's currently cream, we have brown leather sofas and a 'feature wall' brown an cream flowery wallpaper. Shock

I'm happy to paint the whole room and get rid if the feature wall!

I currently have brown curtains with lighter brown circles on them. But can I think use another pair I have which are duck egg blue!

As you can probably tell, I'm sick of the brown and cream but cannot afford loads- only a Tin of paint.

Can you suggest some warming but bright colours to brighten it up please?

I would be happy with the duck egg blue but think it may be a little cool for a front room.

We have laminate cherry/walnut flooring.

Blue, grey are cold colours I would avoid. What colours do you like and dislike in general?

I have a north facing lounge but it does have a lot of windows.

Sorry deepfriedsage but my lounge is duck egg blue and I am sitting on grey sofas Grin

I have said this on another thread, the duck egg blue I have is Crown's Etiquette as a feature wall because the whole room in it would be too dark. I actually have it on every wall in the dining room but that is south facing. It is a very rich colour.

The other walls in my lounge are jasmine white. My sofas are very dark grey from Ikea you can't do a wishy washy elephant grey, it needs to be a rich colour.

The reason for the duck egg blue was that it matched some curtains that we had fallen in love with, and the Etiquette was the closest colour match.

If you are changing a room you start with the stuff you are keeping and work round that. Your paint colours should be the last thing as there are 1000's of paint colours and it is easier to match those into furnishings. It is suggested you use no more than 3 different colours maximum and only two of them should dominate with the 3rd being a highlight colour. I did interior design as a night class many moons ago Grin
