F&B Experts?? Please help me with 'French style bedroom'

I would really appreciate some advice with picking a f&b pain to colour for our new bedroom, as I have bought testers and colour wheel and still can't bloody decide. Confused

Our new bed is this www.sweetpeaandwillow.com/classical-white-rose-blush-bed

Flooring is a large glossy ivory tile (previous vendors), the room is 20 by 19 foot, two ceiling lights (was thinking chandeliers).

I'd love a grey on the wall but have to admit I'm hugely scared of colour. I was thinking cornforth white or skimming stone.... But worried about cornforth white being too dark and the skimming stone being too pink/ purple which could clash with the bed headboard.

Any suggestions.....please??

Forgot to mention, 2 south facing windows, one north facing... So lots of natural light!

Cornforth White is not that dark when up. I have it in hall stairs landing and bedroom. Quite light and great backdrop for other colours.

Cornforth white is a very pale bluey grey and skimming stone is more like a very very pale beige. At least that's what they look like in my house, it really does depend on the light, so you really do need to get some testers and see what they look like in situ.

I can highly recommend Slipper Satin as a pale neutral - have just used it in our house and it is the most beautiful grey/cream/sand colour, and goes with any other colour as far as I can see. The decorator remarked on what a lovely colour it is as he was putting it on, and everyone who has seen it has commented on it.

Good luck choosing!

I was going to say slipper satin or dimity. I don't think corn forth will work that brilliantly with your pink bed. It's a very peachy pink and maybe needs something warmer than CW?

HissyCat · 28/05/2013 08:19

Thank you Spotty, Svetlana and cooper... Funnily enough I did also consider slipper satin and had earmarked dimity for the other bedrooms.

I guess I was hoping a grey/ griege would contrast nicely with the pinky peach.... The colour of the bed headboard I would liken to f&b pink ground so was hoping it would go well with a slight grey Confused

I'm just worried with cream walls, cream bed, cream floor, white plantation shutters the whole room will be a bit.... Bland??

What about strong white? Or am I just barking up the wrong tree?

Strong White is very...white! (Had a lot of testers when doing my house!)

If you want something greyer than Slipper Satin then I would recommend Shaded White - is a pale grey/stone but with more grey in it than SS. Still a warm colour though.

I think pink and grey go beautifully together as well.

I think CW would go well with a pinky colour, more of a contrast than Slipper Satin. Why don't you invest in the big colour wheel from F and B it enables you to fan all of the colours out, like a real pro. £15 well spent.

mum47 · 30/05/2013 17:40

I agree with Shaded White, it is just as Svetlana describes it, and has a lovely warmth to it. Cornforth White does have more of a bluey-ness to it. Best to get a couple of testers - not the cheapest but better than buying the bigger tins and getting the wrong colour.

spotty26 · 30/05/2013 18:03

Agree re testers because CW is not at all blue in my gaff. I like Shaded White too, I had that in my bedroom, but that was definitely more of a Greige than a grey in my house.

We have Skimming Stone in the bedroom, it is lovely but definitely stone, no pink or purple in it that I can see!

HissyCat · 31/05/2013 05:25

Ok off today to get testers for shaded white, cornforth white, slipper satin and skimming stone!

Can I post pics on here??

I've got cornforth white in our big downstairs living room and I would agree that it might not go with a peachy pink colour - we have purple, lime, teal, fuchsia etc with it which are all on the colder side of the spectrum and cornforth white is a brilliant neutral as a backdrop. I would go for shaded white or a creamier/pinker grey.

YY post pics and we will vote for our favourite!
I am going to try slipper satin for my dining room. Sounds lovely.
