After much hassle and phone calls I am now getting my electric meter moved to the front of my house from the side. They are only moving the meter and hooking it to the main line. I've got to do the excavating as It will cost around £2000 for them to dig a wee hole 1 metre square ! On top of the £600 they have quoted just for moving the metere and wire !

But now this is my problem :-

But i need to provide a new electric meter box, all fine picking one up tomorrow. But i've also to supply a red polyethelyne duct 32mm internal diameter, for the electric people to thread the supply through and attach to the new meter location.

Were will i get such a thing ? Google is not showing anything. Have found information on black ducting but not red. Also can't find were I would be able to buy it !

Any ideas people.
TIA

32mm seems small, but it's a long while since I've been involved in such things.

Try Polypipe Civils, Charnwood Business Park, North Road, Loughborough, LE11 1LE Tel: +44 (0)1509 615100 Fax: +44 (0)1509 615215

or contact Naylor Specialist Plastics, [email protected]

Let us know how it goes.

do please double check the colour.

Domestic wiring, which is considered "low voltage" in electricity industry terms, usually goes in black duct.

Red is for High Voltage which is the sort of thing that goes to pylons and substations.

You will also need a "hockey stick" which is a piece of duct with a curved elbow at the end to go from horizontal to vertical.

It's definetly red ducting pigletjohn. The duct is for the electrical people to thread the main electrical line from my garden through and then into the new meter location.

I'll need to get my own electrician to attach the internal electrical line to the meter as well, that's what the hocky stick duct is for.

It's been quite a palava !

The gas was so easy to sort, unlike these idiots!

I still wonder if the network operator has sent you a spec for a factory, not a house? Red really doesn't sound right. I would ask them. I think they have made a mistake.
