What tiles are best for bathroom floor?

We are getting rid of our peach suite, wooden panelled ceiling and carpeted bathroom and am trying to decide on the flooring. Have ruled out lino and laminate but wondered what sort of tile would be best? Ceramic, natural stone or porcelain? Any thoughts?

Natural stone! We have these, which I think are fabulous:

We have them on the floor and on the walls inside the shower, but the rest of the walls are painted and with regular wooden skirting boards. The tiles look gorgeous, and really are soft to walk on. They work fine with underfloor heating.

It may depend on your budget.
Floor tiles can be the most expensive item in the bathroom depending on what you choose.
You can look in the main stores like Topps Tiles but I recommend you also look in specialist independent tile shops - the range is amazing.

Budget not really a big issue, just wondering what is best for a bathroom given that it will get a lot of footfall and will get wet.

We've got large format porcelain ones that have taken nearly 10yrs of bashing and still look brand new. Ours are very smooth but when used with JL large format bathmat to soak up the worst of the water they aren't too slippery.

Ps I'm going to get the same type in my new bathroom when we move later this summer as they've been so easy to live with.

I love the large ceramic tiles we chose for our bathroom and downstairs loo and they have been much admired by family and friends too. They are not cold to walk on and not slippy either.
