We have been offered a deal with a new build housebuilder but they have said it's condition we use their recommended solicitor and mortgage company. If we don't use these then there is no deal unless we buy the house at full asking price with nothing extra ie stamp duty paid.

Does anyone have any experience good or bad about using the builder's recommended solicitor?what would you advise?

Hi Everyone , just realised that I should have started a new post/thread, so please accept my apology, still a newbie to using mumsnet. However your replies about buying from a new developer are so relevant and going to really be helpful when buying and comparing developers.

I’m actually trying to find out which developers to avoid all together as the star ratings are not always reliable and we have not purchased a new home before and there are so many scary stories about new build, and not much positives.

Can the admin at mumsnet move my post to the right place please or do I need to start a new thread ?
