Two boilers in one flat

Any advice on a complicated boiler situation?
We converted two flats into one. One side has a new combi, the other a very old Potterton in what was once a kitchen, but could now be used as a guest bedroom if we get rid of the boiler (and tank/cylinder). Aside from the issues of supply, flow, pressure etc, is it a massive job to connect up all the pipes? Does it involve digging up the floor (it's concrete, tanked). It's a ground floor, lateral conversion and they are still separate systems. Hope that is vaguely understandable!

I am not an expert but would think that if you have a solid subfloor and cannot see any external pipework to/ from the new combi, then the pipework will be chased into the walls. Possibly then you would need to open up the chases again somewjere alo g the lines? Unless they could kind of run a spur of one of the radiator inlet pipes. No idea if that is feasible or legal.

You would also need to check that the new combi is powerful enough to heat the joined up flat.

Good point - thanks for that. Although thinking about it, the floor does get warm in places so there must be something under there ...

Sounds like the best thing to do would be to call up a GasSafe registered engineer to come and have a look. They could advise you on what you could do.

If you look at the radiator, you will be able to tell where the chases are - e.g., if the copper radiator inlet pipe rises up from the floor, then they must be sunk into your solid floor somehow. If the inlet pipe comes out of the wall about 10 cm up from the floor, and then into the radiator, then they are chased into the wall.
