Budget bathroom and second hand bath

We are creating a new bathroom with a £1.5 k/ £2.k budget. I want this budget to stretch as far as possible. I am thinking of buying a second hand cast iron bath and getting re-enamelled obviously a lot of hassle but hopefully worth it? Just wondering if anyone has bought a second hand bath and had it re-enamelled and if they could point me in the right direction of suppliers? Also any good tips for sourcing good quality but not too expensive toilets, showers, taps and basins.

Also what is the best material for shower trays I really don?t like acrylic, would you recommend stone resin or ceramic? Seen you can pick these up quite cheaply on ebay.

Baths are so cheap and re enamelling etc will cost almost as much! I like sti=one resin for trays Ebay ones are fine I buy a lot from there

Thanks. Should have said I'm looking for a freestanding, all the baths in our budget so far haven't been great i.e. seems plasticky. Obviously we can't afford a free standing brand new cast iron bath but looking for a compromise which is n't acrylic. Any help greatly received!

I've got a Carronite bath I'm just about to put on eBay if you're interested? I'm in the Guildford area.
It's been used 4 times and we decided we wanted a bigger bath!

Sorry, it isn't free standing.

Absolutmum - thanks and we are just down the road from Guildford too! Sure you won't have any problem selling it!

I had a bath re-enamelled, it looked great but dif smell of horrible chemicals for at least a week. It was a small flat so the flat smelled of horrible chemicals too.

I keep nagging trying to persuade friends to have it done too as their bath is very discoloured. I think they're worried the rest of the bathroom will look rank once they ha've a lovely shiny new bathtub.

Ebay is the way to go, particularly if you have time to wait for a bargain. Don't use bathroomsuperstore.co.uk - rubbish customer service - they don't have a phone number and don't answer e-mails. We had good luck with aquabliss.co.uk for shower enclosure and tray. Sinks seem to be pretty fairly priced at qssupplies.

I know this is an old post but its worth me sharing my awful experience about Aquabliss. They sell damaged goods and then refuse to refund you, They sent us a cracked shower tray and despite sending them all the photographic evidence they asked for, they still refused to refund us. The shower tray was delivered on a Thursday and it was reported to them (in a reasonable amount of time) as damaged when the packing was removed on the Monday. The crack wasn't visible until the packaging was removed. A complete rip-off.
