Should my builder put this right, nearly 2 years later?

I had a fabulous builder who renovated and extended our house. They did a great job, very few snags or things needed to be put right at the end of the job. Something has come up recently however, and I think it's ok to ask them to come back to put it right. We had glass panels fitted all around our staircases. Obviously this was all done and fitted by the builder/their glass specialist. However, two panels of glass (out of 8) have slipped down in their fittings attached to the staircase posts. They are not dangerous and cannot come out but are not straight anymore so don't look good.

I would expect the glass to be fitted completely "permanently" as it were, ie. never to move, and I don't think anyone could argue that it might move as part of usual wear and tear type usage of the house. It's been less than 2 years since it was fitted and it's not just the one panel that has moved but two. There are approximately 8 in total and I would like them all checked to ensure it won't happen with the others.

Is it reasonable of me to make a friendly approach to the builder to ask them to come and look at this and have it corrected, at no cost to me? I think they will be absolutely fine about it, but I'd be grateful for any views!

I think so - as you say I would approach them politely and explain. If relationships were good, I'm sure they will come back. I might also think stairs like this have a longer gurantee period anyway - like windows do???

It's beyond the official rectification period, but I think it's when people approach with a sense of cross injustice you don't get anywhere.

(Our lovely builder came back after 5 years to fix a problem with a loo free)
