Re-grouting tiles- do I need to know anything?

Just in case anyone has advice on expected costs for round a bath, we need to regrout tiles in our bathroom apparently to let our flat out when we're away.

I will try scrubbing with bleach in case helps but it probably needs doing as bathroom doesn't look v new! The man from the short letting company thought it'd cost £150 or so but Rated where I search for tradesmen thought £500 minimum?

Thanks for any help!

Oops this isn't going to make best topic of the day is it! Still, I thought I'd add I'm about to try Domestos grotbuster in case that helps anyone else - it's meant to really be worth a try first if I'm just worrying about the aesthetic side of things!

What is it you need to get off? If its black mould the best thing I've found is stuff from Lakeland. We need to do ours too as the grout is letting water through. It's fascinating stuff isn't it Grin

If its just re-grouting, thats massively expensive. Its just a question of scraping out the grout and re-applying. Just one word of warning, when we did this we realised very quickly that the grout was actually keeping the tiles on the wall they'd been so badly done. They just literally fell off the wall when we got rid of the grout. So be prepared for a slightly bigger job just in case.

But as others have said, unless the grout is completely dire, it can be cleaned and whitened rather than scraped out.

Thanks Grin
Great to know about Lakeland and I'm all for exploring cheaper options before getting anyone in.

(I think it's just grey stuff that might come off but haven't tried anything yet or properly examined it)
