Kitchen tap - hard water area

The cold tap was running at a low pressure, I felt something 'go', now it doesn't work at all, so I will have to replace it, I think. It there a type that is best in a (very) hard water area? I've noticed a lot of taps come with aerators now. Don't they just keep clogging up? I have to descale my shower head weekly...

Would welcome any recommendations of tap types - preferably as simple as possible. It's a mixer tap, coming up from a single hole in the sink. Thanks.

We live in a very hard water area - installing a water softener was one of the first things I did when we moved to this area.

a simple british bib tap, with a washer, can easily be maintained and rewashered, I don't know any that are still in use much over 100 years, though.

Bristan is a very good maker. If fitted to a 15mm pipe (or 22mm for a bathtap) they will have the best flow you can get.

If you get your spanners out, you can probably repair your old one using £1 worth of parts.

Ceramic disk taps, with a joystick or a quarter-turn kever or knob, are especially expensive to repair, and parts are often unobtainable. Mixers go wrong more often than bibs, and swivelling spouts wil eventually dribble and leak.

Thank you both. My plumber tells me he can't get the tap apart to fix it. He brought a replacement tap with him, unbranded. I want to go for a branded tap so I can be sure of getting spares so now it is down to me to choose a replacement. Overwhelmed by choices. Don't want to make an expensive mistake.
