Anyone used expressbifoldingdoors.co.uk and/or integrated blinds within double glazing?

We are thinking of using them to supply the frames for our sliding doors in our new extension.

We are also contemplating having integrated blinds within the glazing. The sealed glass panels for the doors will be supplied by Morley Glass which specialises in integrated blinds inside double glazed units.

Has anyone used either company or done anything similar?

Any views or experiences gratefully received!

TIA

Bump - interested in integrated blinds too!

Yep, me. But we go the whole lot from Express - frames, glass and integral blinds. We don't use the blinds much but they came as part of the package. The fixings to close them are magnetic and look a bit clumpy on the doors so we didn't stick them on - we just use one when we need it. Express seemed good - the doors we have were excess stock so I can't comment on how reliable their lead times are although they say 2 weeks which is way less than others. They were also reasonably quick to send us a missing part. Anything else you'd like to know? We have bifold doors, opening out about 4metres wide.

Hi Rather, thanks for posting. I didn't realise express did the integrated blinds too so we don't need to source that elsewhere after all which is great.

Are you happy with the quality and service from express? Did they come and measure up for you? Did you go for any of the extras like solar glass? (i think they reflect the sun so keep it cool inside).

Thankyou!

No, they didn't measure as we were lucky enough to buy a mis-specced order so it was ready to go - we then ensured our gap was built to the exact dimensions - it was more or less the size we wanted anyway. We visited their showroom in Redhill and were impressed with the product and the guy there - not pushy at all. Placed order over phone, helpful and quick delivery. Glazing gaskets (whatever they are) were missing from the order and they sent 2 batches as the first took a while to arrive (due to postie) so I would say they are defo efficient. The integrated blinds, I think, usually cost around 1K extra for a wide span so they're not cheap. We didn't have any other extras. I saw the sliders in their showroom and at Grand Designs and thought they looked great - I prefer them to bi-folds now. Anyway, before you place your order try to visit them and a few other suppliers - we had another company's doors on order and switched having seen Express Bi-fold - I had no idea there was such a variation in quality and look for a set of doors! Final note is to say that we don't actually use the blinds that much! Are you sure you need them? We have lights in our garden so they're quite pretty to look at in the evenings. We do, however, intend to put blinds on our roof velux windows in our kitchen extension as our neighbours can look right in on us from their upstairs rooms - not great for them or us...

Hi thanks again for posting.

When you say variations in quality and look, what do you mean? There are so many co.s out there, I feel stressed just thinking about contacting/visiting/comparing them all.

We basically want 3 panels of glass 1 fixed at the end and 2 sliding across iyswim. The width in total is around 4.7m and height around 2.3m. There is also a fixed glazed sort of triangle above the doors.

I think we'll need the blinds as the doors face south east and get a lot of sun in the mornings til around 1 or 2pm in the summer.

Some doors had really thin aluminium frames (compare Express Bifolds with Sunflex, for instance) or had thicker surrounds so less glass, IYSWIM. My first instinct was to go for very thin frames to let as much light in as possible, but in reality these looked a bit mean. Schuco seems to be a reputable manufacturer of bifolds and sliders (Express Bifold supply them as well as their own brand) so it might be worth Googling Schuco UK and seeing if there's a supplier in your area, then you can at least have a look at them and start the ball rolling. We also went to Grand Designs who had a number of door companies which made comparing quite easy - Ideal Home Exhibition is coming up so it may be worth a visit to do your compare and contrast in one space!

Ok yes I see what you mean. I have heard of Schuco and might even have contacted them in the past.

We can get to Express in Redhill quite easily so think we'll go there.

Somebody also mentioned SunParadise which look good from their website. They're not far either.

Ok thankyou very much for your help, much appreciated Smile
